Randy A. Beasley, 60, Identified as Victim in Fatal Panola County Crash

The man who died in a car crash in Panola County last week has been identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Randy A. Beasley, aged 60 and from Marshall, was the victim of the tragic accident. The DPS has also provided new information about the incident.

The crash occurred at around 4:16 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of FM 9 and U.S. 79, approximately five miles northeast of DeBerry. It involved a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and an 18-wheeler truck. DPS troopers were called to the scene to investigate the collision.

According to the initial findings of the investigation, Beasley’s vehicle was stopped at the south-facing intersection, while the 18-wheeler was traveling in a southwest direction on U.S. 79. Unfortunately, Beasley failed to give way to the oncoming truck at the stop intersection, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

Tragically, Beasley was pronounced dead at Ochsner Louisiana State University Hospital in Shreveport by Dr. Nathan Martin. The driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as Michael D. Shepherd, aged 52 and from Carthage, sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall for treatment.

The DPS’s identification of the victim and the release of more details shed light on the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. As investigations continue, it serves as a reminder of the importance of obeying traffic rules, particularly at intersections. Yielding the right of way can prevent such devastating accidents and save lives.
