President of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, Shot Dead in Jaipur

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the president of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS), was tragically shot dead in Jaipur on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Gogamedi’s home in Jaipur’s Shyam Nagar, where three assailants attacked him. One of the assailants was also killed in retaliatory firing, while Gogamedi was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

The Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena is a splinter group of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS). Gogamedi, a former member of SRKS, founded SRRKS after being expelled from the group by its late founder, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, in 2015. Over the years, SRRKS gained prominence through its opposition to various issues, often resorting to violence. They made headlines during the protests against the Bollywood movie ‘Padmaavat’, when they assaulted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the film’s shooting in Jaipur.

The motive behind Gogamedi’s murder is still unclear. However, reports suggest that a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, currently incarcerated in Tihar jail, claimed responsibility for the killing. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are searching for the two assailants who managed to escape.

The Shri Rajput Karni Sena was formed in 2006 by Lokendra Singh Kalvi, following the Rajputs’ struggle with their traditional rivals, the Jats. The group aimed to protect the interests of Rajputs and promote Rajput unity. They opposed any political or social malice against Rajputs and fought against the misrepresentation of history or historical figures.

Gogamedi’s murder has sent shockwaves through the community, and supporters of SRRKS are demanding justice. The police have increased security in the area to prevent any potential retaliatory violence.
