SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A man is dead after a shooting Monday night in Springfield.
Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that officers were called to the 0-100 block of Abemarle Street around 6 p.m. Monday for a ShotSpotter activation.
When police arrived, they found an adult male gunshot victim, who was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he died.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Springfield Police detective bureau at (413) 787-6355 or ‘Text-A-Tip’ to CRIMES (274637) and in the message, type SOLVE and your tip.

The case remains under investigation by the Springfield Police homicide unit, in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney’s murder unit.

Man Fatally Shot in Springfield: Investigation Underway
SPRINGFIELD, MA – A tragic incident unfolded in Springfield on Monday night as a man lost his life in a shooting. The Springfield Police were alerted to the scene after receiving a ShotSpotter activation call from the 0-100 block of Abemarle Street at approximately 6 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was swiftly transported to Baystate Medical Center for urgent medical attention, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Ryan Walsh, a spokesperson for the Springfield Police, has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The police have requested that individuals contact the Springfield Police detective bureau at (413) 787-6355 or provide anonymous tips via the ‘Text-A-Tip’ service by texting CRIMES (274637) and including the keyword SOLVE along with their tip.
The case is being handled jointly by the Springfield Police homicide unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s murder unit.
