Kansas City, Kansas: Dominic A. M. V. Lee Shot by Officer in Apartment Complex Incident

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is currently probing an incident involving a police officer that took place early Monday morning at an apartment complex in Kansas City, Kansas.

The incident unfolded shortly before 3 a.m. when a concerned citizen dialed 911 to report gunfire in the parking lot of an apartment complex located near 61st St. and Leavenworth Road. Upon the arrival of officers at the scene, they noticed a man, later identified as 21-year-old Dominic A. M. V. Lee, from Kansas City, Kansas, wielding a rifle and leaning out of a window on the second floor of a nearby apartment building.

Lee then aimed the rifle at one of the responding officers. In response, a KCKPD officer discharged a single round towards Lee, striking him in the shoulder.

Following the shooting, officers entered the apartment and managed to apprehend Lee without any further complications. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned and swiftly transported him to a local hospital in Kansas City for medical attention. Thankfully, no officers sustained any injuries during the encounter.

Later that day, Lee was discharged from the hospital and promptly arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. Subsequently, he was booked into the Wyandotte County Jail.

The KBI is currently leading the investigation into the incident, with further details yet to be disclosed. The agency will closely examine the circumstances surrounding the officer’s use of force in order to determine its appropriateness.
