Fairfield Man Identified as Erby Jason Moore, Victim of Hit-and-Run on Birmingham Interstate

A man from Fairfield has been identified as the pedestrian who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on a Birmingham interstate on Monday night. The victim, Erby Jason Moore, aged 48, was officially identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday.

Emergency services were alerted at 6:24 p.m. to a report of a person being struck on the northbound lane of Interstate 59, near the Ensley exit. Tragically, Moore was hit by multiple vehicles, none of which stopped or contacted the police, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:45 p.m. The Birmingham Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
