The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a wanted suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on November 16, on New York Avenue, NE. The victim, identified as Carlos Javier-Blanco Fernandez, a 38-year-old man, was found with gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
23-year-old Eliexander Lopez-Burgos was apprehended by members of the United States Marshals Task Force in Colorado on December 4. Lopez-Burgos was wanted on an arrest warrant from the DC Superior Court, charging him with first-degree murder while armed. The suspect will be extradited to DC to face the charges.
