Brian Noel Identified as Victim in Barrio Logan Shooting; Suspect Apprehended

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The suspect in the Barrio Logan shooting, which resulted in the death of a man, has been apprehended by San Diego police, according to officials. David Gatheright, aged 42, is now in custody at the San Diego County Jail on an outstanding murder warrant, as reported in a press release by the San Diego Police Department.

Gatheright was initially arrested in St. Petersburg, Florida on November 19. Following collaboration with the St. Petersburg Police Department, San Diego police successfully extradited Gatheright back to San Diego to face charges related to the murder of Brian Noel.

The victim, Brian Noel, a 53-year-old man from San Diego, was killed in the incident that occurred on the morning of June 2 in the 1600 block of Logan Avenue. Authorities have stated that Noel was shot multiple times in the chest after a brief verbal altercation with the suspect.

The suspect, identified as a 42-year-old black man with tattoos on his neck and chest, was named days after the shooting. The San Diego Police Department had sought the public’s help in locating the suspect.
