Authorities in Virginia have identified the pilot and sole occupant of a fatal plane crash in Fauquier County as Simmie Adams, a local Army veteran. The incident occurred on Sunday when Adams, 62, was landing a 1975 Beechcraft plane at the Warrenton-Fauquier airport. The aircraft collided with several trees, causing it to crash into a remote area where it quickly caught fire. Adams died at the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash, which involved a single-engine Beech C23 plane. The wreckage was found at the intersection of Midland and Ebenezer Church Roads, about three-quarters of a mile southeast of the airport. Photos taken at the scene show the white and green plane in separate pieces, with significant damage to the middle and front sections.

Chad Casto, CEO of DarkStar Intelligence, expressed his grief over Adams’ death, noting that he had worked with Adams and admired his dedication to service. Adams had served in the Army for 21 years and later transitioned to the adult-learning realm, as well as coaching to help others improve their personal and professional lives.

Adams had obtained a private pilot license with an Instrument Rating in September 2018, according to his LinkedIn account. Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured in the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the collision and subsequent crash.
