Aman Singh, Accused in Dhanbad Deputy Mayor Murder Case, Shot Dead Inside Jail: Five Staff Suspended, Contracts Terminated

Five prison staff have been suspended and the contracts of two others terminated after a murder accused was shot dead inside Dhanbad Jail in India. Aman Singh, who was involved in the Dhanbad deputy mayor murder case, was killed on Sunday afternoon following a dispute among inmates. The incident has led to the suspension of the jailer, Md Mustkin Ansari, and the recommendation of departmental action against him. The contracts of five prison staff members, known as “kaksha pal,” have also been suspended.

The authorities have identified one of the main accused in the shooting as Sunder Mahto, who is currently being interrogated. They have recommended the transfer of Dhanbad Jail Superintendent M Barua and the relocation of 23 prisoners to other jails in the state.
