Thane News: Man, 38, Arrested for Strangling Wife to Death After Argument

Thane district, Maharashtra – A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his 35-year-old wife to death during a domestic dispute, according to local police. The incident occurred on Monday at the couple’s residence in Titwala town, Kalyan area.

The suspect, identified as Mayuddin, worked as a rickshaw-puller in Titwala. Police revealed that the couple had been frequently arguing over household matters for the past few months.

On the day of the incident, the couple engaged in another heated argument. In a fit of rage, Mayuddin beat his wife with a stick before allegedly strangling her, an officer reported. Upon receiving information about the crime, the Titwala police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and apprehended the suspect.

“We have filed a case against the accused at the Titwala police station, and further investigation is underway,” stated the officer.

This tragic event follows another distressing incident in Thane district. A man allegedly murdered his 55-year-old mother after a dispute over the taste of the food she served him. The incident took place in Velu village, Murbad taluka, on Sunday evening.

According to the police, the accused had frequently quarreled with his mother over domestic issues. On Sunday, he complained about the taste of the food, which led to an argument. In a fit of anger, he attacked his mother’s neck with a sickle, causing her to collapse and die.

Neighbours alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The accused, who reportedly consumed an overdose of sleeping pills following the crime, is currently hospitalized and has not yet been arrested.

A case has been registered against him under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for addressing domestic disputes and promoting peaceful resolution methods within households. Authorities are urged to raise awareness about the consequences of violence and provide support to individuals facing domestic conflicts.
