34-Year-Old Darius Renee Wilson Identified as Victim in South Minneapolis Double Shooting

Officials have identified the man who was killed in a double shooting that occurred early Monday morning in south Minneapolis. The victim, Darius Renee Wilson, aged 34 and from Burnsville, died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident took place at the intersection of E. Lake Street and 12th Avenue S., near the border of the Phillips and Powderhorn neighborhoods, shortly after midnight. Minneapolis police were called to the scene, where they discovered Wilson and a woman in her 40s suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk.

While the woman was taken to HCMC for treatment of her noncritical injuries, Wilson sadly passed away at the scene. The shooting occurred near the Midtown Global Market, with several people present in the area at the time. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

This tragic homicide marks the culmination of a weekend marred by multiple shootings and an armed carjacking in Minneapolis. In total, three individuals lost their lives, and at least seven others sustained injuries throughout the city.
