23-Year-Old Pierre Man Charged with Second Degree Murder in Stabbing Death of 17-Year-Old Evie Maxey

Pierre, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A 23-year-old man from Pierre, South Dakota, has been charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old woman. The incident occurred at a residence on South Brule Street last week.

According to charging documents, the Pierre Police Department received a disturbance call at around 9:04 p.m. on November 30th. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of Evie Maxey, a resident of Rapid City.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old David J. Shangreaux Jr., was arrested and is currently being held at the Hughes County Jail. Shangreaux’s initial court appearance is scheduled for December 7th at 1:15 p.m.
