21-Year-Old Dominic A. M. V. Lee Shot by Kansas City Police Officer in Apartment Complex Incident

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – An investigation is underway by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) into a shooting involving an officer that took place early Monday morning at an apartment complex in Kansas City, Kansas.

The incident occurred at around 3:20 a.m. when the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) requested the KBI to conduct an investigation. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team promptly responded to the scene.

Reports suggest that at approximately 2:55 a.m., a resident called 911 to report shots being fired in the parking lot of an apartment complex on 61st St. and Leavenworth Rd. Upon arrival, KCKPD officers witnessed a male suspect holding a rifle and leaning out of a window on the second floor of an apartment building. The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Dominic A. M. V. Lee from Kansas City, Kansas, aimed the rifle towards one of the responding officers. In response, the officer fired one shot towards Lee, hitting him in the shoulder.

Officers swiftly entered the apartment and apprehended Lee without any further trouble. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene and transported Lee to a local hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries. Fortunately, no officers were harmed during the incident.

Following his release from the hospital earlier today, Lee was promptly arrested for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. At around 4:50 p.m., he was booked into the Wyandotte County Jail. It is important to note that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and further details surrounding the incident are yet to be released.
