Two Teenagers in Custody After Shots Fired at Manitowoc Apartment Complex, No Injuries Reported

MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — Two teenagers have been apprehended following a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Manitowoc on Sunday evening.

Police were called to the 1700 block of Meadowbrook Drive, initially responding to reports of shots fired at an unoccupied vehicle. However, it was soon discovered that the apartment complex had actually been targeted, thankfully without any injuries occurring.

Upon arrival, officers were able to identify the main suspect and an accomplice. The residents of the apartments reported hearing bullets enter their homes, but luckily no one was harmed by the multiple rounds fired.

The two suspects, aged 17 and 16, both from Two Rivers, were located and surrendered to the police in the 1100 block of Memorial Drive in Manitowoc. Law enforcement also recovered the gun at that location, which was found to be stolen.

The 17-year-old male suspect has been detained at the Manitowoc County Jail, facing a total of 12 charges including Endangering Safety through the Use of a Dangerous Weapon, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Minor, Receiving Stolen Property, Disorderly Conduct, Felony Bail Jumping, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.

Thankfully, no residents of the apartment complex were injured during this alarming incident. The quick response and identification of the suspects by the police ensured a swift resolution to the situation. Investigations into the motive behind the shooting are ongoing, and authorities are working to provide a safe and secure environment for the community.
