Tragedy struck a home in Queens early Sunday morning when a family gathering took a horrific turn, resulting in the death of four family members and injuries to two New York Police Department (NYPD) officers. The shocking incident unfolded in the Far Rockaway community and left the neighborhood in a state of shock.
The suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon, 38, was shot and killed by police after a stabbing spree that left the community reeling. The incident began when a distressing 911 call was made by a young girl at 5:10 a.m., reporting that her cousin was attacking family members. NYPD officers quickly responded to the call and encountered the suspect leaving the residence with luggage.

In a sudden turn of events, the suspect swiftly turned violent, brandishing a kitchen steak knife and attacking the officers. One officer was stabbed in the neck and chest, while the other was stabbed in the head. However, a 28-year NYPD veteran named Edmond Decio acted decisively and shot and killed the attacker. Both injured officers were hospitalized but are expected to recover.
As officers attempted to enter the residence to aid the victims, they were faced with another obstacle—a fire deliberately set in the living room. The New York City Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze, allowing officers to reach the interior of the house. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of an 11-year-old girl near the entrance.
Further investigation revealed four additional victims in the back bedrooms of the home. The victims included a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. A 61-year-old woman was also found in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment for multiple stab wounds.
