Shimla Road Accident Claims Six Lives, Several Injured

Six people have lost their lives and several others have been injured in a tragic road accident in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred on Monday morning when a pickup truck carrying laborers from Jammu and Kashmir veered off the road and fell into a gorge near Sunni, about 35 km from Shimla.

According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal accident. The laborers were on their way to Mandi from Sunni when the mishap occurred. Three laborers died on the spot, while the remaining three succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Farid (24), Gulab (43), Sahbir (19), Talib (23), Gulzar (30), and Mustak (30). The injured, including the driver, Ranjit, are currently receiving treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMCH).

Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the identities of the deceased and informed the media that a case has been registered. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident and establish any negligence or wrongdoing.

Road accidents continue to be a major cause of concern in India, with thousands of lives lost every year. The authorities need to take strict measures to improve road safety and ensure that drivers adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
