Man Kills Four Relatives, Including Two Children, in New York City Knife Attack before Being Shot by Police

A man in New York City has killed four relatives, including two children, in a knife attack at their home before setting the building on fire. He then went on to stab two police officers, but was shot and killed by one of them. The incident occurred in Far Rockaway, a seaside area of Queens, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The police were alerted to the situation when a young female called 911 to report that her cousin was attacking her family. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers encountered a man attempting to leave with his luggage. Within seconds, he drew a knife and launched an attack. One officer was stabbed in the neck and chest, while the other was slashed in the head. Fortunately, both officers are expected to recover from their injuries.

Tragically, an 11-year-old girl was found outside the house with stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police were initially unable to enter the property due to a fire in the living room and foyer. Once they gained access, they discovered three more victims: a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. Additionally, a 61-year-old woman sustained critical injuries from multiple stab wounds.

The suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon, a 38-year-old man from the Bronx, had been visiting the family at the time of the incident. The authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims.

This horrifying attack comes just one week after another knife rampage in the Bronx, where a college student, who claimed to be hearing voices, killed his father, his 5-year-old half-brother, and the child’s mother.

Patrick Hendry, the head of the New York Police Department’s police union, praised the officer who stopped the attacker, stating, “The skill that this police officer had in shooting and neutralizing the threat while being stabbed is truly remarkable.”

Authorities are continuing their investigation into both incidents, as the city grapples with these tragic acts of violence.
