Four people, including two children aged 11 and 12, were fatally stabbed in a New York City home during a violent incident on Sunday. The suspect allegedly set fire to a couch in the residence and attacked two police officers with a kitchen knife before being shot and killed by one of the officers. The incident took place in the Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, and the officers, both experienced members of the force, had responded to a disturbance call. One officer suffered a slash to the face while the other sustained a head injury. Despite their injuries, one of the officers managed to shoot the suspect, putting an end to the attack. The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, who had a previous arrest related to domestic violence. The violence began when the police received a distress call from a young girl stating that her cousin was harming her family members. The first officers on the scene encountered Gordon, who was carrying luggage in the driveway. He then attacked the officers with a kitchen knife, causing injuries before being shot. The wounded officers were taken to the hospital, where they received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, an 11-year-old girl who had been stabbed outside the home died at the hospital. Three other people, including a 12-year-old boy, were found fatally stabbed inside the house. A 61-year-old woman was also discovered with stab wounds and is in critical condition. The names of the victims have not been released, but the police believe they are related to the suspect. The motive for the attack is currently under investigation. The police union president commended the injured officers for their bravery, emphasizing the importance of their presence in preventing further harm.
