The husband of a woman whose body was discovered in a storage unit in Orange County, Florida, has been charged with her murder, according to authorities. Shakeira Yvonne Rucker, a 37-year-old mother of four, was reported missing by her family on November 11. Her family stated that they had last seen her on that day. The Winter Springs Police Department began investigating her disappearance, suspecting that she may have left home with her estranged husband, Cory Hill.

Last month, Florida law enforcement officials declared Rucker’s disappearance a homicide after her body was found in a storage unit registered to Hill. On Friday, the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit announced that they had formally filed murder charges against Hill for the death of Shakeira Rucker. Hill is currently in jail on a no bond status, facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and other offenses related to an incident involving his ex-girlfriend and her family.

Cory Hill, aged 51, was initially arrested on November 13 for an unrelated shooting. He was charged with four counts of attempted murder after allegedly shooting at his former girlfriend and her family the day before, as reported by Orange County Sheriff John Mina. Prosecutors have now added an additional charge of second-degree murder (with a firearm) for Rucker’s death. Authorities discovered Rucker’s body in a self-storage facility in Apopka after receiving a complaint about a foul odor emanating from a unit registered to Hill. The woman had apparent gunshot wounds, according to Mina.

Rucker’s family has created a GoFundMe page to support her four children, who range in age from 7 to 18. Prosecutors have expressed their intention to seek a first-degree murder indictment in Rucker’s homicide, but due to procedural rules, they are currently limited to filing a second-degree murder charge. CNN has reached out to Hill’s public defender for comment.
