Arkansas Deputy Fatally Shoots Scottie Stacy During Traffic Stop

An Arkansas sheriff’s deputy has shot and killed a man who tried to flee from a traffic stop, authorities have announced. The incident occurred in Fayetteville on Sunday evening when the deputy attempted to stop a pickup truck in the northeastern part of the county. The driver, identified as 57-year-old Scottie Stacy, was shot after he reversed and struck the patrol car.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office stated that Stacy had fled through a fence and onto a field before eventually stopping. The deputy then got out of the vehicle, and when Stacy reversed and hit the patrol car, the deputy opened fire. Stacy was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in his vehicle remained unharmed.
