Four people from Sonatala village in Sharankhola upazila were involved in a tragic accident on the Pirojpur-Bagerhat highway. Two of them, Rony and Rabbi Khan, lost their lives in the incident, while the other two, Faisal and Mizan Jamaddar, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital after initial treatment at Bagerhat Sadar Hospital.
According to Dr. Ziaul Adnan Rumel, the resident medical officer at Bagerhat Sadar Hospital, the four victims were brought to the hospital on the morning of Sunday, December 3. However, Rony and Rabbi were pronounced dead on arrival due to the severity of their injuries.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus of Dhansiri Transport, traveling from Khulna to Barishal, collided head-on with the motorcycle and an easy-bike that the victims were riding. The injured victims were rescued by locals and immediately taken to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital. The bus involved in the accident has been detained, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident took place around 9:30 am on the Bagerhat-Pirojpur highway near Baitpur village in Bagerhat Sadar upazila. All the deceased and injured individuals were residents of Sonatala village in Sharankhola upazila.
Sharankhola Upazila Vice Chairman Hasanuzzaman Parvez revealed that Rabbi was a hired motorcycle driver, while the other victims earned their livelihoods by fishing in the Sundarbans. They were traveling to Bagerhat to attend a court hearing when the tragic accident occurred.
The news of the accident has left the local community in shock and grief. The loss of two lives and the severe injuries sustained by the survivors have highlighted the need for improved road safety measures on the Pirojpur-Bagerhat highway.
