Two truck drivers were killed in Kancheepuram district in a tragic incident when one of them accidentally touched an overhead cable while opening the vehicle door. The victims have been identified as Arun, aged 33, from Pullaloor in Kancheepuram, and Ramamoorthy, also known as Ramu, aged 28, from Kolathur. Both of them worked as truck drivers for a private company in the district.
According to the police, the company is responsible for collecting scrap materials from another firm located in Eraiyur. On Saturday evening, Arun arrived at the company and parked the truck near the entrance. When he stepped out and opened the back door, it unexpectedly came into contact with a high-tension cable. Arun suffered an electric shock, and Ramu, attempting to save him, was also electrocuted. The Oragadam police have filed a case in connection with the incident, and the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination at Sriperumbudur Government Hospital.
