A man who was arrested in connection with another shooting case in Los Angeles has now been identified as one of the suspects involved in the recent murders of homeless individuals, according to police. The Los Angeles Police Chief, Michelle Moore, revealed that Jerryd Joseph Powell, aged 33, was linked to the triple murder after a firearm discovered in the car he was driving during his previous arrest was connected to the shootings.

Powell was taken into custody earlier this week by Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies, who were investigating the killing and robbery of a 42-year-old man. The announcement of his involvement in the triple murder comes just a day after authorities announced their search for a suspect in a late-November shooting. The incidents occurred during the early hours of the morning while the victims were either asleep or preparing to rest for the night.

The third shooting took place in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood on November 29 at approximately 2:30 a.m., where the body of a 52-year-old man was discovered. The police have not yet informed the victim’s family of his identity.

Detectives were able to locate Powell’s vehicle through surveillance cameras and tracked it to Beverly Hills, where they stopped the car and discovered a firearm inside. Chief Moore expressed her gratitude that the suspect is now in custody, ensuring that the community is no longer under threat. Powell’s attorney could not be reached for comment, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Online jail records indicate that he was arrested on Thursday and is being held on $2 million bail.
