A man from Los Angeles has been identified as the suspect in the recent killings of three homeless men, according to the police. The suspect, 33-year-old Jerrid Joseph Powell, was already under arrest in connection with another shooting investigation when he was linked to the three killings. The authorities discovered that a firearm found in Powell’s vehicle during his previous arrest was connected to the shootings.
Powell was arrested earlier this week by Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies for the shooting death and robbery of a 42-year-old man. The police made the announcement a day after revealing that they were searching for a suspect in the shootings. The incidents occurred in November during the early morning hours while the victims were either sleeping or preparing to rest for the night.

The first victim, 37-year-old Jose Bolanos, was found dead with a gunshot wound on November 26 in South Los Angeles. The following day, 62-year-old Mark Diggs was shot and killed while pushing a shopping cart near downtown. The third shooting took place on November 29 in the Lincoln Heights area, where the body of a 52-year-old man was discovered. The police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
Detectives managed to identify Powell’s vehicle through surveillance footage and tracked it to Beverly Hills. He was stopped by the police, who found a firearm inside his vehicle. Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore expressed his gratitude that the suspect is now in custody and no longer a threat to the community.
Powell is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, and it is currently unclear whether he has legal representation. He was arrested on Thursday and is being held on $2 million bail. The investigation into the killings of the homeless men is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
