Man Killed and Two Injured in Attack near Eiffel Tower
A man has died and two others have been injured in a street attack in central Paris. The incident occurred close to the Quai de Grenelle, near the iconic Eiffel Tower. France’s Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, confirmed that the attacker had targeted tourists in the area.

According to the police, the victim who died was a German national and was stabbed during the attack. Emergency services promptly treated the injured victims.
The alleged attacker, a 26-year-old French national, was apprehended by authorities. He was known to the security services and had been sentenced to four years in prison in 2016 for planning another attack. The suspect was also on the French security services watchlist. Minister Darmanin revealed that the assailant had shouted “Allahu Akbar,” which means “God is greatest” in Arabic, and claimed his actions were motivated by the situation in Gaza.
The suspect had a history of psychiatric disorders, according to Minister Darmanin. A police operation is currently underway around the Bir-Hakeim metro station, and authorities have advised people to avoid the area.
The anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office has taken charge of the investigation. French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne expressed her condolences and gratitude towards the emergency services for their swift response. She asserted that France will not yield to terrorism.
