41-Year-Old Aaron J. Winters Apprehended by Police Dog After Fleeing Wisconsin Rapids Police

Wisconsin Rapids police successfully apprehended a suspect with the help of a police dog early on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at around 12:59 a.m. when a Wood County K9 Unit noticed a speeding vehicle that was swerving on W. Grand Avenue in the City of Wisconsin Rapids. The police deputy activated the emergency lights and tried to pull the vehicle over, but it continued for a short distance before stopping in a parking lot at the junction of 12th Avenue S and Chase Street. The driver promptly fled on foot.

The determined deputy chased after the suspect and made an attempt to arrest him, but he put up a fight. To bring the situation under control, the deputy called upon K9 Bingo, who promptly subdued the suspect, enabling the police to make the arrest.

The suspect has been identified as Aaron J. Winters, a 41-year-old resident of Wisconsin Rapids. Following his arrest, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being transported to the Wood County Jail. Winters is now facing charges of battery to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and OWI 3rd offense.
