Suspect Identified in Shootout with Sergeant in Victorville
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) — The suspect involved in a shootout with a San Bernardino County sheriff’s sergeant in Victorville has been identified as Jorge Cardenas, 27.

The incident occurred on Friday when officers received a call about a man threatening a woman who had locked herself in the bathroom of a gas station on Bear Valley Road. Upon arrival, Cardenas opened fire on the sergeant, who then returned fire. Cardenas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have revealed that it was Cardenas’ girlfriend who made the 911 call. The sergeant, a 16-year veteran of the department, was hit twice in the leg but is expected to survive.
