Wrong-Way Driver Arrested After Crashing into UPS Truck in Nashua

NASHUA, New Hampshire – A 45-year-old man from Nashua, Omer Landry, was arrested for drunken driving after crashing into a UPS truck on the Everett Turnpike, according to state police. The incident occurred late Thursday night and Landry is now facing charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless conduct, and operating an unregistered and uninspected vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court in January.

State police received a 911 call from the UPS truck driver at around 11:20 p.m., reporting that his vehicle had been hit head-on by a sedan on the F.E. Everett Turnpike, Exit 5 northbound onramp. Landry was driving the wrong way on the highway at the time of the collision. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The UPS truck driver, identified as Fred Coffin from Waterford, Maine, managed to bring his vehicle to a controlled stop before the sedan driven by Landry struck it head-on. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Authorities noted that they did not receive any prior calls reporting a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the highway before the crash occurred.

As a result of the collision, state police closed the onramp parallel to the F.E. Everett Turnpike for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
