Tragedy as Ondo Local Government Worker Mathew Slumps and Dies in Office

Tragedy struck in Bolorunduro, Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State when a local government worker identified as Mathew slumped and died in his office. The incident occurred during a discussion with his colleagues, and despite efforts to revive him, he could not be saved.

According to reports, Mathew had gone to have his breakfast in his parked vehicle inside the local government area before returning to the office. It was shortly after his return that he suddenly collapsed and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. His co-workers expressed shock at his sudden death, as there were no signs of illness prior to the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident and stated that Mathew’s body has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue. The true cause of his death is currently under investigation by the police.

Meanwhile, this unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by workers in various sectors. Just recently, a house officer at the Neurosurgery Unit of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LUTH) also slumped and died after allegedly working for 72 hours. The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), LUTH chapter, raised concerns about the long working hours and its impact on the health and well-being of medical professionals.

In another incident, a teacher working at Olokinne High School in Ogun State, Mrs. Oluwatosin Aina, also slumped and died in the school premises. She had sought permission to go to the hospital after feeling unwell but tragically passed away shortly after. The incident highlights the need for adequate healthcare support and attention to the well-being of workers.
