Person Hit, Killed near Coronado Holiday Parade Route

SAN DIEGO — Six individuals have been arrested in connection with two drug cases that resulted in the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, according to the San Diego Police Department. The investigations, which took place over the past three days, led to the confiscation of 60,000 counterfeit fentanyl pills, 5,000 ecstasy pills, nearly 9 pounds of cocaine, and 5 pounds of methamphetamine. Edith Gonzalez-Ramirez and Edwin Valles were apprehended and are facing charges related to narcotics trafficking.

The first investigation began in October and concluded on Thursday. Lieutenant Adam Sharki, spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department, provided details of the case. In a separate investigation, law enforcement received reports of illegal dispensaries operating near schools and residential areas. The dispensaries were found to be selling dangerous synthetic substances known as Delta-8 THC or Delta-10 THC. These substances have been linked to hospitalizations and deaths.

Search warrants were executed at six locations across San Diego County on November 28th and 29th. One of the locations, Canably, located in the Middletown neighborhood, was suspected of selling and distributing cannabis and cannabis products within 1,000 feet of a school and homes. The owners of Canably were also believed to be operating another similar business from their home, where investigators discovered 300 pounds of loose cannabis, 5,400 edibles, 13,900 concentrates, and cash. Two individuals, Jose Delahoz and Valeria Rada, were arrested on charges of child endangerment and drug-related offenses.

Another location targeted in the investigation was Elevated Smoke Shop in Pacific Beach. Law enforcement seized a loaded ghost gun, 331 loose cannabis pre-rolls, and 426 concentrates from the shop. The owner’s residence in East Village was also searched, resulting in the discovery of additional evidence, including an unregistered handgun.

At BestBudz smoke shop in Spring Valley, authorities confiscated 500 pounds of cannabis products. Pedro Delahoz and Diego Delahoz were arrested on suspicion of drug offenses related to the investigation.

Lt. Sharki emphasized that the sale of cannabis and cannabis-derived products in California is strictly regulated and requires specific licensing and compliance with state and city regulations. The possession of firearms, selling illegal synthetics, and selling cannabis to minors are all criminal acts under state law.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about these cases to contact the San Diego Police Department or Crime Stoppers to provide anonymous tips.
