New Details Revealed in November Crash That Resulted in the Death of Roel Solis

Pharr, Texas (ValleyCentral) – New details have emerged about a deadly crash that occurred in Pharr last November. Yozmara Garcia has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the incident that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Roel Solis.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by ValleyCentral, the crash took place on November 18. At around 12:02 a.m., a Pharr Police Department investigator was dispatched to the 700 block of W. Nolana Loop in response to a major vehicle accident. Upon arrival, an officer observed a black and blue Chevy Malibu with significant damage to its front left quarter in the inside westbound lane, facing westbound. A red Ford Expedition was also seen in the middle lane, facing north.

The officer noticed two individuals in the backseat of the Malibu, one of whom had a shoulder injury requiring surgery. Yozmara Garcia was identified as the driver of the vehicle. During a search of her purse for identification, the officer discovered a black handgun. Sadly, Roel Solis, who was in the front driver’s seat, was found without a pulse by Pharr EMS.

Firefighters extracted Garcia from the driver’s side and placed her on a gurney. At the hospital, officers detected the smell of alcohol on her breath and person. Another passenger informed the police that all three of them had been drinking alcoholic beverages earlier. They also stated that Garcia had been driving recklessly in the apartment complex’s parking lot and exited at a high speed.

Garcia’s bond has been set at $105,000, and she remains in jail as of Saturday, according to records.
