Manhunt Underway for Suspected Serial Killer Who Targeted Homeless Victims

A manhunt is currently underway in Los Angeles for a suspected serial killer who is believed to have murdered three homeless men in just four days. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released surveillance images of the suspect on Friday, urging the public to remain vigilant as he remains at large.

The victims, aged between 37 and 62 years old, were all shot dead in open areas of the city, with one being killed while he was asleep. The suspect, seen in the surveillance images wearing a hoodie, is believed to have been responsible for the murders. The police also released a photo of the suspect’s grey car, which they suspect he has been using to carry out the crimes.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued a warning to the city’s homeless community, urging them not to sleep alone and to seek shelter and support. The string of murders began on November 26, with the first victim identified as 37-year-old Jose Vamos. The second victim, Mark Digs, 62, was killed the following day, and the third murder occurred on November 29. All three victims were shot while sleeping or preparing to sleep in the early hours of the morning.

A specialized task force has been created under the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide division to catch the killer. LAPD Chief Michel Moore stated that investigators from multiple branches have been brought in to assist with the case, and the forensic science division is on standby to process any evidence. The LAPD has also contacted surrounding cities to check for any similar unsolved crimes.

The murders bear a resemblance to the Stockton serial killer case from 2022, where multiple homeless individuals were killed in Stockton and Oakland, California. The suspect in that case targeted homeless victims, shooting a total of seven people. Chief Moore expressed the need to investigate if there are any other unsolved shootings of homeless individuals that may be connected to the current homicides.

The LAPD is urging anyone with information about the suspect or the crimes to come forward and assist in the investigation. The community is advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
