Man Killed and Son Injured in Attack in Hangu District

A man was tragically killed and his son sustained injuries when they were attacked by their rivals in the Chamba Gul area of Hangu district. Nasreen Gul, a resident of Lachi tehsil in Kohat, had been living in Hangu due to an ongoing feud with Hayat Khan.

According to SHO Fayyaz Khan of the City police station, Hayat and his sons had traveled from Lachi to Hangu with the intention of seeking revenge for the murder of their family member. The incident occurred while Nasreen and his son, Wali Mohammad, were on their way to a court hearing on a motorcycle. Hayat, along with his accomplices Amjidullah, Zahireen, and Sabireen, opened fire on them, resulting in Nasreen’s immediate death and Wali Mohammad sustaining serious injuries.

In response to the incident, a task force has been formed under the orders of Kohat Commissioner Mohammad Abid Khan. The task force has initiated an operation to clear a flea market located at the rear of Jail Plaza. The space will be allotted to handcart owners, who will have their handcarts immobilized to prevent them from returning to the city. This decision was made to address the issues caused by these handcarts, which often obstruct pedestrians and cause problems for motorists in the bazaars.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sheharyar Qamar informed Dawn that vendors will be given identification numbers for verification purposes. He further stated that the operation against illegal bus stands, temporary shops on footpaths, and handcarts is also being planned.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing violence that can arise from long-standing feuds. The authorities are taking steps to address the immediate concerns and maintain law and order in the region.
