Leader of Alleged Gun-for-Hire Group, Gelbirth Albios Puerto alias “Boss Bay,” Killed in Encounter with Police in Cavite City

The alleged leader of a gun-for-hire group known as the “Bayawak Group” was killed during a confrontation with police officers in Cavite City on Saturday. Gelbirth Albios Puerto, also known as “Boss Bay,” was 30 years old.

According to the police report, during a surveillance operation, “Boss Bay” became aware of the presence of the authorities and drew a gun, firing at the officers. A firefight broke out, resulting in the suspect’s death.

The Bayawak Gun-for-Hire group has been implicated in a series of robbery hold-ups targeting convenience stores in the National Capital Region and Region 4A. The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) assured the public that they will continue to monitor and apprehend those involved in these crimes, ensuring the safety of all Qcitizens.

QCPD Chief Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan stated, “I would like to assure the public that the QCPD will continue to monitor and locate those who are involved in the series of robbery incidents in the city and ensure the safety of all Qcitizens.”

Evidence recovered at the scene of the encounter included a caliber .45 pistol with one magazine, an extra magazine, six empty cartridges, and a black Honda Click motorcycle.

The death of “Boss Bay” marks a significant victory for law enforcement in their efforts to combat organized crime and protect the public from dangerous individuals. The police are continuing their investigations to determine if any other members of the Bayawak Group are still at large.
