On Friday, December 1, 2023, at approximately 11:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Wildewood Parkway and White Oak Parkway in California, California, California. Upon arrival, crews discovered a single vehicle that had veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The driver, an elderly male, appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency.
Police quickly removed the operator from the vehicle, and an off-duty EMT who happened to be at the scene began administering first aid. The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

In a separate incident earlier that morning, deputies from the Calvert County Patrol Bureau responded to a shooting on Sark Court in Prince Frederick at around 7:05 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was flown to a trauma center and is now in stable condition. Witnesses reported seeing a masked male suspect leaving the area in a black SUV. Detectives are currently investigating the incident.
To ensure the safety of residents and businesses during the holiday season, Sheriff Ricky Cox and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office have launched a holiday safety campaign. Additional deputies will be deployed for foot and bicycle patrols, as well as increased checks on businesses, churches, schools, and neighborhoods.
In other news, the Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be hosting their 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. The event will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well as games, giveaways, food, and more. Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the festivities.
Lastly, a joint investigation by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit led to the execution of a search warrant at an apartment in Lexington Park. During the search, detectives discovered a loaded AR-15 pistol and a loaded Glock 29 semi-automatic handgun with obliterated serial numbers. A 21-year-old resident was arrested and charged with weapons offenses.
