Gunmen Target Shia Clerics and Civilians in Jibril District, Eight Dead
Unknown gunmen caused havoc in the Jibril district of the Herat region on December 1, resulting in the tragic deaths of two Shia clerics and six others. This horrifying incident took place in the Korah Melli area when unidentified assailants opened fire on a three-wheeler, according to a report by Daryo correspondent in Afghanistan.

The victims have been identified as prominent Shia clerics Muhammad Mohsen Hamidi and Muhammad Taghi Sadeghi, along with four other civilians. The attack also left at least two individuals injured, leading to widespread grief and anger among the local residents.
In response to the incident, people from the Jibril district took to the streets to express their anguish and demand justice for the victims. The atmosphere in the area remains tense as the community mourns the profound loss and seeks answers about the motive behind this targeted attack.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement condemning the assault on the Shia clerics in Herat province, calling it an act of “terrorism.”
