Four persons injured in a collision with a speeding container near Navale bridge.

Four people have been injured in Pune after a speeding container collided with five vehicles near the Navale bridge on Saturday evening. The incident occurred when the container driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bus, a tempo, and other vehicles, including a car, on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway.

Upon receiving the information, the Sinhagad road police station swiftly dispatched a team to the scene. Senior police inspector Abhay Mahajan revealed that the container had hit five vehicles, resulting in injuries to four individuals. The process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the accident is currently underway.

This particular stretch of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, between Katraj and Narhe, has gained notoriety as an accident-prone area. Two major accident black spots, namely Navale Bridge and Selfie Point, have been identified along this patch of the highway. The authorities responsible for overseeing traffic in this area, Bharti Vidyapeeth and Sinhagad Road traffic divisions, have reported a total of 40 fatal accidents in 2022, claiming the lives of 44 individuals.

In a similar incident on October 16, four people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries when a goods truck they were traveling in caught fire after colliding with another vehicle near Navale bridge.

Efforts are being made to improve the safety of this highway section, which has witnessed a high number of accidents. It is crucial for authorities to take necessary measures to enhance road safety and prevent further loss of life.

As investigations into the recent collision continue, it is hoped that lessons will be learned and appropriate actions taken to prevent such accidents in the future.
