Calgary police are appealing to the public for any CCTV or dashcam footage following a fatal drive-by shooting in the Beltline on Thursday night. The incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. on November 30 in the 600 block of 10 Avenue SW. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had succumbed to gunshot wounds.
Surveillance footage revealed that the victim was walking towards 6 Street when a dark-colored SUV approached. An occupant of the vehicle fired multiple shots at the victim before swiftly fleeing the scene. The SUV was last seen traveling southbound on 6 Street SW and then turning westbound onto 13 Avenue SW.

Detective Lee Treit of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit emphasized the severity of the incident, stating, “This volatile incident showed a blatant disregard for human life and jeopardized the safety of bystanders.” Treit urged anyone with information or video evidence to come forward to assist in holding the perpetrators accountable.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Thane Cameron Clayton, who was not believed to be from Calgary but had connections to Vancouver, B.C., Edmonton, Alta., and Halifax, N.S. Police are requesting that anyone who had recent contact with Clayton contact them with relevant information.
Authorities are uncertain at this time whether the shooting was a targeted attack. The Calgary Police Service is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact them at 403-266-1234.
