A 19-year-old woman was discovered dead with severe facial injuries near Kotwa Baraipur village, located in the Sarai Inayat police station area of Prayagraj, on Saturday morning, according to local authorities. The victim, identified as Reena Bind, was the daughter of Ramchandra Bind from the nearby Dalapur Musaha village.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the trans-Ganga region, Abhishek Bharti, stated that a formal complaint had been filed by the victim’s father against his son-in-law. The complaint alleged that the son-in-law was opposed to the marriage. Consequently, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

DCP Bharti assured that efforts were underway to apprehend the suspect. According to the victim’s father, Ramchandra Bind, his son-in-law had expressed disapproval of the impending marriage. The police reported that Reena had retired to her room after having a late-night meal on Friday. However, her lifeless body was discovered the following morning, approximately 400 meters away from her residence in an isolated area near a pond.
The victim’s family informed the authorities that Reena’s wedding was scheduled to take place on Sunday. Meanwhile, the police have transported the deceased’s body to SRN hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The incident has left the local community shocked and concerned about the safety of women in the area. The police have vowed to leave no stone unturned in their investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice.
