Suspect Charged in Crash that Killed Nancy Lyons and Lawrence Hale in Ross Township

A suspect has been charged in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Ross Township, Michigan over the summer. The crash took place on August 19 at the intersection of M-89 and 40th Street, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).

Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the crash. The victims have been identified as 84-year-old Nancy Lyons from Plainwell and 87-year-old Lawrence Hale from Midland. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver involved in the collision sustained serious injuries.

The at-fault driver, identified as 29-year-old Rachael Story from Battle Creek, was arrested on Thursday. On Friday, she was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of reckless driving causing death, and two counts of driving a vehicle with a high blood alcohol content resulting in death following a previous conviction, according to the sheriff’s office. Story has been placed on a $100,000 bond.
