Second man charged with robbing and fatally shooting San Leandro barber Johnathan Jabari Clay

SAN LEANDRO – A second man has been charged with robbing and fatally shooting a San Leandro barber inside his shop in late October, according to East Bay prosecutors. Guillermo Camacho, 26, of Oakland, was arrested on Monday in Oakland while driving a stolen car. Police found a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine inside the vehicle.

Camacho has been charged with robbery, murder, assault with a firearm, auto theft, and weapons violations by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. The incident took place on October 25 at the Harrison Brothers barbershop on East 14th St. Two suspects entered the shop and used firearms to commit the robbery. They pistol-whipped the barber, identified as 47-year-old Johnathan Jabari Clay, and stole his personal belongings.

During the robbery, Clay managed to draw his own firearm and fired at the suspects, who shot back at him. Clay was killed in the exchange of gunfire, and a customer was injured. One of the suspects, Alexis Garcia, 26, of Oakland, was arrested two days later and charged with murder, second-degree robbery, assault with a firearm, and illegal gun possession.

Police detectives later identified Camacho as the second suspect in the case. Despite the charges filed, the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
