Police Officer “Freedom” Allegedly Kills Adeleye Eniola, SS1 Student in Ogun State

A police officer, known as “Freedom,” has allegedly caused the death of a high school student and injured several others in Ilashe, Ogun State. The officer, attached to the Ilaro Area Command, was reportedly chasing a motorcyclist when he struck and killed Adeleye Eniola, an SS1 student of Mayigi Community High School.

According to an eyewitness, the police officer was driving at high speed when the incident occurred. The tragic accident has sparked outrage among the community’s youth, who have condemned the officer’s actions as “unprofessional and barbaric.” They have also criticized the police for arresting and tear-gassing other students who were protesting the death of their classmate.

In a statement released by the Ipokia Local Government Youth Forum (IPYF), the group expressed their frustration with the Nigerian Police Force’s handling of similar incidents in the past. They accused the police officers in Ipokia of being specially trained to “kill, maim, extort” the local population and violate their rights as citizens.

The youth group demanded swift action, calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the police officer responsible for the tragedy. However, when contacted for a response, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, did not answer calls or messages from reporters.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of police misconduct and excessive use of force in Nigeria. The tragic death of Adeleye Eniola has once again sparked outrage and calls for justice. The community, along with various human rights organizations, will be closely monitoring the response of the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted and appropriate action is taken against the responsible officer.
