Patrick Scott, a 59-year-old man from Indiana, has been charged with murder after human remains were discovered on his property. The remains are believed to belong to Valerie Tindall, a 17-year-old girl who went missing over five months ago.
The Rush County Sheriff’s Office announced that they executed over 50 search warrants in an effort to determine what happened to Tindall. Through their investigations, they gathered information and evidence that led them to Scott, who was also Tindall’s neighbor. The specific details of the evidence were not disclosed.

On Tuesday, police conducted a search of Scott’s property in Arlington, Indiana, and found human remains buried there. While the remains still need to be positively identified by the coroner’s office, authorities believe they belong to Tindall. The coroner’s office will also determine the cause and manner of her death.
Following the discovery of the body, Scott was arrested on a murder charge and booked into the Rush County jail.
Scott had previously been charged in June with providing false information to the police. He allegedly lied about the last time he saw Tindall, claiming he had dropped her off in a nearby town. However, his story was inconsistent with the evidence.
The news of Tindall’s presumed death has left her mother, Shena Sandefur, heartbroken. Sandefur described her daughter’s relationship with Scott as one of friendship, as Tindall had worked for him and spent time with his family.
