Chula Vista residents are being encouraged to attend an upcoming Active Shooter Preparedness & Response training session organized by the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD). The event aims to equip community members with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle active shooter situations and provide immediate aid to victims until professional help arrives.

Taking place on December 4th at 6 pm in the Council Chambers, the training session will cover essential topics such as recognizing warning signs, developing an emergency plan, and implementing effective strategies in the event of an active shooter incident. Registration for the event is required, and interested individuals can sign up by visiting the CVPD’s website.

The CVPD is collaborating with Think Chula Vista and the Chula Vista Fire Department to ensure a comprehensive and informative training session. The training will be conducted by experienced professionals who specialize in active shooter response and emergency medical care. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn life-saving techniques, including how to stop bleeding and administer immediate aid to gunshot victims.

In recent years, the rise in active shooter incidents has highlighted the need for individuals to be prepared and capable of responding effectively in such emergencies. By empowering community members with the necessary knowledge and skills, the CVPD hopes to create a safer environment for residents of Chula Vista.

In addition to the training session, the CVPD is actively encouraging residents to follow their social media accounts for regular updates on safety measures and emergency preparedness. They can be found on Twitter at @thinkchulavista and @ChulaVistaFD.

As safety remains a top priority, it is important for individuals to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the CVPD to educate themselves on active shooter preparedness.
