Dominic De La O, who is accused of murdering Officer Ferguson and involved in multiple other cases, now faces additional charges. On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the Alamogordo Police Department responded to a shooting incident on Pinon Avenue. One victim was taken to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds and later transferred to a hospital in El Paso, Texas. Matthew Vega and Dominic De Le O were identified as potential suspects in the shooting.
On January 17, Officers were dispatched to Canal Street after receiving reports of two armed men. Only Matthew Vega was found at the scene, but a handgun was seized during the investigation. The following day, on January 18, Dominic De La O was located at a residence on Bellamah Avenue. A handgun was seized from the premises after obtaining a search warrant.

After an extensive investigation and receiving results from crime laboratory testing, Matthew Vega and Dominic De La O have been charged with several crimes. Matthew Vega, a 32-year-old resident of Alamogordo, NM, is facing charges including shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Dominic De La O, a 26-year-old resident of Alamogordo, NM, is facing charges including shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, receiving and retaining stolen property, and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery.
The investigation was conducted by the 12th Judicial Major Crimes Unit, which includes investigators from the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Alamogordo Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Otero County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ruidoso Police Department.
These charges add to the already serious accusations against Dominic De La O, who is also accused of murdering Officer Ferguson and being involved in multiple other criminal cases. The court proceedings for these charges are expected to take place in the near future.
