Brandon Perry Buckmon Identified as Suspect in Aiken Walmart Parking Lot Robbery Attempt; Victim Shot During Robbery Refuses to Give Money

A suspect involved in a robbery attempt at a Walmart in Aiken has been identified by the police. Brandon Perry Buckmon, a 22-year-old from Barnwell, was captured on Wednesday in Williston on unrelated charges and is currently being held in the Orangeburg County Detention Center.

According to warrants, the victim was shot in the shoulder while sitting in his car in the Walmart parking lot. Buckmon and his accomplices had demanded money from the victim, but he was shot when he refused to comply. The victim was later treated at a local hospital for his injuries.

Once Buckmon is released from custody in Orangeburg County, he will be transported to Aiken to face formal charges. These charges include armed robbery, assault and battery, weapon possession, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, and unlawful carrying of a pistol. Additionally, Buckmon is facing unrelated charges in Orangeburg County, including armed robbery, credit card fraud, and weapon possession.

The Aiken police are continuing their investigation into the shooting incident, and more arrests are anticipated. The Aiken Department of Public Safety has received assistance from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, the Williston Police Department, and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) during the course of their investigation.

The Walmart shooting incident has raised concerns about safety and security in the area. Local residents are calling for increased police presence and measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
