Lucknow: A 28-year-old employee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) died in a hit-and-run accident on Shaheed Path around 3am on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Anubhav Kumar, was returning home in Alambagh on a scooter after attending a wedding at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomtinagar.

According to the police, the accident occurred near the service lane of Utraitiya underpass. Anubhav was hit by a speeding vehicle and thrown off his scooter. Passersby informed the police, who rushed him to SGPGI Trauma Centre. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
“The collision was so strong that the victim fell off his two-wheeler and suffered serious injuries,” said additional DCP, east zone, Syed Ali Abbas. Abbas further stated that the police have registered a case of hit-and-run and have initiated an investigation. They are currently trying to identify the vehicle and driver responsible for the accident.
Meanwhile, Anubhav’s family is demanding the arrest of the person responsible for the hit-and-run.
This tragic incident is the latest in a series of hit-and-run accidents in Lucknow, highlighting the need for increased road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic rules.

In related news, a traffic constable in Mumbai was seriously injured when an unknown car hit him after he tried to stop the vehicle for violating traffic rules. The constable, Laxman Mojkar, suffered a fractured hip bone, and the police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the driver.
In another incident, an inebriated youth driving an SUV caused an accident in Panchkula’s Sector-11 residential area. The SUV collided with a pickup truck, causing it to overturn onto a parked car. The pickup driver sustained severe injuries, and the authorities are waiting to record his statement before making an arrest.
