The young woman, Nisha Yadav, was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and was residing in a hostel room in the Mahavir Nagar area of the city.

This unfortunate incident marks the 29th suicide case of a coaching student in Kota this year. Nisha hailed from the Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh, but her dreams brought her to Kota in pursuit of her medical career.

The distressing discovery was made when Nisha’s father attempted to contact her but received no response. Concerned, he reached out to the hostel staff, requesting them to pass on his message. However, when Nisha failed to open her door, the staff decided to intervene. Tragically, they found her lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan.

No suicide note was discovered in Nisha’s room, leaving her family and authorities perplexed about the reasons behind her extreme step. The Kota Police have launched an investigation into the matter and sent the body for postmortem examination.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, it has been revealed that the anti-hanging device, a mandatory safety measure implemented by the Kota district administration, was not installed in Nisha’s room.

This is not the first incident of its kind in Kota. Just a few days before, on Monday, November 27, another NEET aspirant named Faureed Hussain also took his own life. The escalating number of student suicides in Kota has raised concerns among local authorities, who must now urgently address this distressing issue.
