On 16th November, a witness testified in a murder case before DC Superior Court Judge Marisa Demeo. Lorinzo Thompson, a 17-year-old, has been charged with second-degree murder while armed for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of 14-year-old Niko Estep on 14th Street NW on 3rd November. Thompson is being charged as an adult under the Title 16 rule.

According to court documents, Estep was fatally shot in the torso, while another juvenile victim sustained three gunshot wounds but survived.

During the trial, the prosecution presented surveillance footage that allegedly captured Thompson at the scene of the crime. Thompson entered a convenience store with the individual in the black jacket while his mother remained outside. The prosecution also showed surveillance footage from inside the convenience store, which captured Estep and two others entering the parking lot and fleeing once Thompson started shooting.

The detective who testified stated that Thompson fired a total of 12 shots. A search of Thompson’s house led to the discovery of a magazine with eight rounds of 9mm ammunition believed to belong to Thompson.
