Woman Identified as Lisa Pettis Dies After Being Hit by Car While Crossing The Plaza in Charlotte

A woman has tragically died after being struck by a car while crossing The Plaza in east Charlotte during the early hours of Thursday morning, according to local authorities. The incident occurred at around midnight in the 2800 block of The Plaza, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported.

The victim, identified as 58-year-old Lisa Pettis, was found by officers in the roadway with severe injuries. She was swiftly transported to Atrium Health Main, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigators have determined that Pettis was attempting to cross The Plaza when she was hit by a 2021 Hyundai Kona. It has been noted that she was not using a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Hyundai, who was wearing a seatbelt, was found to be unimpaired by substances during the crash, according to police reports.
